Early Mint

This was my first collection minted as NFTs, and some of the earliest NFTs minted onto the Cardano Blockchain.

I got into NFTs shortly after completing my 2021 portfolio, people in the community enjoyed it so I had some of the work minted to raffle to supporters.

Roxbury Creative Center https://tyler.art/portfolio/roxbury-creative-center/ Tue, 10 Dec 2019 16:24:00 +0000 https://tyler.art/?post_type=portfolio&p=4307 This semester-long project aimed to conceptualize and design a recreational center for the Roxbury, MA community. Collaborating closely under Professor Armando Plata, the project unfolded in two distinct phases.

Phase One

As the Artifacts evolved, a central theme began to emerge—namely, the idea of unveiling intricacies and fostering connections within the recreational center. This theme laid the groundwork for a broader vision.

Expanding upon this concept, I made a pivotal decision to center the recreational center around the theme of “Art & Creation.” This choice encapsulated the very essence of the complexities and connections I sought to expose. The complexities, in this context, represented the diverse range of creative disciplines that the center would accommodate. The connections, on the other hand, symbolized the collaborative spirit that would be nurtured among these disciplines.

Phase Two

To manifest this vision, the final design took shape, featuring six distinct buildings or “shops.” These structures were thoughtfully designed to serve as focal points within the facility, strategically placed to encourage social interaction and collaboration among visitors.

What truly sets this design apart is the innovative integration of a glass-clad space-frame connecting these six buildings. This elegant architectural feature extends outward to form a stunning art gallery at the rear of the facility.

The geometry of this space-frame, a defining element of the design, was meticulously crafted using Blender. A fluid simulation technique was employed, mimicking the graceful flow of liquid through the shops and ultimately into the gallery space. Symbolically, this design concept captures the essence of collaboration—just as the fluid carries with it the work generated in the shops to the gallery, the collaborative efforts of the various creative disciplines flow seamlessly into a shared space.

In summary, this semester-long project evolved from a creative exploration of abstract art pieces to a comprehensive design for a recreational center, emphasizing the importance of artistic expression and collaboration at its core. The final result is a harmonious blend of architectural innovation and artistic vision, providing a space that celebrates both the complexities of diverse creative disciplines and the connections that unite them.

East Bay Bike Station https://tyler.art/portfolio/east-bay-bike-station/ Fri, 06 Apr 2018 16:07:00 +0000 https://tyler.art/?post_type=portfolio&p=4353 The East Bay Bike Station represents the central point of the East Bay Bike Path, offering a multifunctional space for users. Situated on a slender site adjacent to India Point Park and nestled beneath the i-195 overpass, the building's design cleverly incorporates staggered floors connected by ramp-ways, not only providing efficient bike transport but also creating a striking architectural presence.

Heart of the Bike Path

The conceptual studio project, known as the East Bay Bike Station, was envisioned as the central hub for the East Bay Bike Path, serving as a versatile and dynamic facility. Within this project, the primary objectives included providing storage options for visitors’ belongings, offering a range of retail choices for food and supplies, and creating a communal space for public work activities.

Situated on a unique and elongated site, positioned across from India Point Park and nestled alongside the i-195 overpass, the design of the East Bay Bike Station was driven by the site’s inherent constraints and opportunities. The site’s narrow dimensions inspired a design approach that featured staggered floors interconnected by ramp-ways. This innovative configuration formed the core structure of the building, fulfilling a dual purpose. Not only did it facilitate easy transportation of bikes through the building, but it also created a visually striking and functional element.

Heart of the Bike Path

To enhance the building’s usability and aesthetics, vibrant and distinct colors were incorporated into the design. These colors served as visual cues, both from the interior and the exterior, effectively distinguishing the various levels of the building. The result was a lively and engaging environment that beckoned to visitors, making their experience memorable and user-friendly.

Moreover, the building soared to impressive heights, with floors extending 30 feet above the i-195 overpass. This elevation positioned the East Bay Bike Station as a prominent gateway into the city of Providence for cyclists traveling along the East Bay Bike Path. It not only offered essential amenities but also symbolized a welcoming and iconic landmark, signifying the transition from the path to the vibrant cityscape beyond.
