About the Animation

This animation is a nod to Cardano’s decentralization, with each of the pieces acting independently, but uniting to create something larger than themselves.

The award was designed by the artist who produced the physicals. I was then provided with the specifications and a general concept for the environment.

It takes place above an oasis in the middle of a desert with the Dubai skyline on the horizon. The 11 codes on the inside of the long wooden panel are the proposal IDs of the winners.

Clay Nation | Environmental Design https://tyler.art/portfolio/clay-nation-environment-design/ Wed, 22 Feb 2023 01:16:00 +0000 https://tyler.art/?post_type=portfolio&p=2660 During my time with Clay Labs, I was tasked with creating concept environments for the three regions, Sonic Village, Baked Nation and The Underworld. In addition to this, I also worked on a dynamic procedural clay material, and a modeled a variety of assets.

Study Environments

My tasks while work working with Clay Labs was creating 6 concept environments inside Unreal Engine, two for each of the main regions; Sonic Village, Baked Nation and The Underworld.

Concept sketches were initially drawn up by illustrators on the team, then with those sketches, I modeled, textured and constructed the scenes within Unreal Engine.

UE5 Environments

All 6 scenes were constructed as interactive environments within the engine. These scenes served a hand full of uses, including conceptualizing the wider environment as well as producing a wide variety of landscaping assets and materials.

Excluding the character models, all of the landscapes, models and materials were created by me for these concept scenes.

Parametric Clay Material

Since my task required so many different types of materials, I spent much of my free time developing a parametric clay material that I used to texture everything from ground materials to road signs.

With all the assets being clay styled, this also assured that materials were consistent throughout the scenes, and any major changes to the base material (PBSAR algorytm) could be updated across all assets fairly seamlessly.

Clay Material SBSAR

General 3D Modeling

All models and vegetation in these scenes were modeled by me as well. A majority of the assets were sculpted, retopologies and were material painted.

A handful of the objects were created moduly or non-destructive, giving us the ability to quickly create variations.

About ABHS

ABHS is an cross-chain project built on Etherium with the intent of introducing the Cardano ecosystem to the existing NFT market (primarily on ETH).

One of the ways they approached this was by partnering with Cardano artists/projects and releasing custom work for free to ABHS supporters. The collections were typically released as 5-8 Edition artworks of varying rarity (with higher rarity pieces going to the biggest supporters).

This drop was handled a little differently.

Frames

This series (like my other R.O.D.R.160 collections) was released as “frames”. Each of the 2000 NFTs is a unique still-image frame, and put together they create a full animation.

‘Rarity’ (one of the conditions of the commission) was built into the set with the animations starting simple, and gradually becoming more active as the sequence progresses. The final frames show a golden halo floating down onto R.O.D.R.160’s head and the scattered camera effects also increase towards the end.

“Framed” sets is something I have been exploring since 2021, and I think this series is my best execution so far. Excluding the halo and camera effects, rarity is very subjective. The scene changes linearly, so no frame is actually rarer than any other.

Additional Media

These pieces obviously make a pretty good phone wallpaper, so I included two additional images in each NFT (main piece on the lock screen and these on the home).

[2140] Ch1FS1 — Into This World https://tyler.art/portfolio/2140-ch1fs1-into-this-world/ Wed, 22 Sep 2021 21:13:00 +0000 https://tyler.art/?post_type=portfolio&p=2562 "Into This World" is the first Framed Set, of the first chapter of [2140], a story-based NFT collection by withspaces. This collection consists of 125 still image frames, 2 animations and 35 personalized "Into This World - Sneak Peek" NFTs. The 125 stills are each a unique frame of the full animation, revealing the opening to the (2140) story.

Commemorative Cards

The 35 commemorative cards were given to close friends and supporters who I showed the collection to before its release. Each has the persons name on it and is numbered.

"Into This World"

This collection is the first in my [2140] series following R.O.D.R.160.

The series is broken up into framed sets within chapters (this one is Chapter 1, Framed Set 1 — Ch1FS1). Each piece in the collection is a still-image frame, and combined they create the full animation.

To me, this collection is a flag in the sand. [2140] is one of my long term goals as a creator.

The ReiKo Appreciation Collection was a project organized by BobaBits in June of 2021. They brought together 17 projects in the CNFT space to create artwork inspired by our incredible friend ReiKo! She has done so much for us so this was a little way for us to give back to her.

The pieces were sold at random and it cost 60₳ per transaction. All of the ADA from the drop went directly to ReiKo. It was our intention to compensate her for all that shes done for us, but ReiKo being the amazing person she is ended up putting a good amount of the ADA towards her charity project Islodiwa.

This piece below was Toureguide’s submission to this project, it was created by Smitty and I. We aimed to represent her love of nature and wildlife, her ability to bring people into a community, and her project Islodiwa meaning ‘Island Of Souls’.

The Preserve

The Preserve is a 3500 acre luxury outdoor sporting club & private residence located in Richmond, Rhode Island. I had the opportunity of working at the facility’s  in-house architecture and engineering office. There, I  created graphics, plans & renderings that were used for proposals and promotional material. Many of the buildings in the renders are a mix of BIM models created in Revit for The Preserve and models created by myself while working there. Some building models were created by others in the office or outsourced architects.

The most ambitious project I took on while at The Preserve was a birds eye view render of the 3500 acre property in it’s current state. I used the work from this project later on to create these detailed renderings for proposals.

East Bay Bike Station https://tyler.art/portfolio/east-bay-bike-station/ Fri, 06 Apr 2018 16:07:00 +0000 https://tyler.art/?post_type=portfolio&p=4353 The East Bay Bike Station represents the central point of the East Bay Bike Path, offering a multifunctional space for users. Situated on a slender site adjacent to India Point Park and nestled beneath the i-195 overpass, the building's design cleverly incorporates staggered floors connected by ramp-ways, not only providing efficient bike transport but also creating a striking architectural presence.

Heart of the Bike Path

The conceptual studio project, known as the East Bay Bike Station, was envisioned as the central hub for the East Bay Bike Path, serving as a versatile and dynamic facility. Within this project, the primary objectives included providing storage options for visitors’ belongings, offering a range of retail choices for food and supplies, and creating a communal space for public work activities.

Situated on a unique and elongated site, positioned across from India Point Park and nestled alongside the i-195 overpass, the design of the East Bay Bike Station was driven by the site’s inherent constraints and opportunities. The site’s narrow dimensions inspired a design approach that featured staggered floors interconnected by ramp-ways. This innovative configuration formed the core structure of the building, fulfilling a dual purpose. Not only did it facilitate easy transportation of bikes through the building, but it also created a visually striking and functional element.

Heart of the Bike Path

To enhance the building’s usability and aesthetics, vibrant and distinct colors were incorporated into the design. These colors served as visual cues, both from the interior and the exterior, effectively distinguishing the various levels of the building. The result was a lively and engaging environment that beckoned to visitors, making their experience memorable and user-friendly.

Moreover, the building soared to impressive heights, with floors extending 30 feet above the i-195 overpass. This elevation positioned the East Bay Bike Station as a prominent gateway into the city of Providence for cyclists traveling along the East Bay Bike Path. It not only offered essential amenities but also symbolized a welcoming and iconic landmark, signifying the transition from the path to the vibrant cityscape beyond.
