GENISIS BLOCK CONCEPT

"BIG BANG" GRAPHIC

When discussing this project with the CF team, we decided to use Cardano’s Genesis Block as an influence for the design.

The genesis block held 14,505 transactions, the original voucher transactions on the chain. These are represented as a 3D animated cloud of 14,505 slips that vary in size based on the amount in the transaction. 

Cardano is generally known for it’s technical-conscious audience, I believe it’s what attracts people to the ecosystem. This abstract graphic is intended to appeal to that crypto-punk vibe in a cool and subtle manner — a nerdy conversation starter but it doesn’t scream “Crypto-Bro.”

"Slips" scaled to reflect ADA amounts

To vary the size of the slips based amount of ADA in each transaction, the blocks metadata was used to create a ~120×120 pixel PNG with the value of each pixel corresponding to the amount. 

This PNG was then mapped onto the emission object and set with a constraint that adjusts the size of each particle. 

The Design

I wanted to give a sense of scale to the block, showcasing the amount of transactions eternalized within it, a visual representation of the blocks metadata. 

The small emblem on the back contains the Cardano logo and “Est.” with the genesis block ID, a nerdy-joke since the ID can be quired to find the exact start of the chain, down to the second.   

PROOF-OF-PURCHASE

DIGITAL ASSET NFTs

Hopefully the start of a tradition with CF merch, these t-shirts are accompanied with NFTs to serve  as a digital proof-of-purchase. Whether lost, or faded after years of wash cycles, this token was created to live on past a shirt’s natural/finite lifespan — a digital memento. 

The media included inside the token is the animation used to create the graphic.

About the Animation

This animation is a nod to Cardano’s decentralization, with each of the pieces acting independently, but uniting to create something larger than themselves.  

The award was designed by the artist who produced the physicals. I was then provided with the specifications and a general concept for the environment. 

It takes place above an oasis in the middle of a desert with the Dubai skyline on the horizon. The 11 codes on the inside of the long wooden panel are the proposal IDs of the winners.

The Shrine

Inside “Fragile Thoughts” is a small shrine of Snoo that is revealed when equipping a blank head, eyes and body trait. 

This concept of hidden shrines is something I plan to continue with and build upon with future RCA releases.

Fragile Thoughts [SIGNED]

Signed Avatars are sort of a tradition in the RCA community. When I was first asked to do one I thought it would be cool to mint them, so this piece was created to be like a paint swatch of the avatar to give as a thank you.

Each edition is signed and numbered by hand, and many of them also include a small message.

Fragile Thoughts holders  are welcome to reach out to me for one of these (as long as the number you’re holding does not already have a signed version).

The Shards

The Shards is a collection of nine 1/1 pieces created from single shards that made up the Fragile Thoughts character. This collection was created to celebrate the RCA collection, and to have some pieces of Fragile Thoughts on my home blockchain, Cardano. 

Five of the Nine shards will be raffled in the Kreate Mega Drop 2 (an event celebrating artists on Cardano). The four remaining pieces are listed on Kreate.

The Animation

Jesse Moynihan and Jono (leading the Jesus 2 project) reached out about creating special Parallax cards for the final character release series. 

With the animation, my aim was to bring the cards themselves to life, make them feel alive, as if they’re excited to show themselves off. Luckily, the stunning graphics created by Jesse gave a lot to show off.

About ABHS

ABHS is an cross-chain project built on Etherium with the intent of introducing the Cardano ecosystem to the existing NFT market (primarily on ETH). 

One of the ways they approached this was by partnering with Cardano artists/projects and releasing custom work for free to ABHS supporters. The collections were typically released as 5-8 Edition artworks of varying rarity (with higher rarity pieces going to the biggest supporters).

This drop was handled a little differently.

Frames

This series (like my other R.O.D.R.160 collections) was released as “frames”. Each of the 2000 NFTs is a unique still-image frame, and put together they create a full animation. 

‘Rarity’ (one of the conditions of the commission) was built into the set with the animations starting simple, and gradually becoming more active as the sequence progresses. The final frames show a golden halo floating down onto R.O.D.R.160’s head and the scattered camera effects also increase towards the end.

“Framed” sets is something I have been exploring since 2021, and I think this series is my best execution so far. Excluding the halo and camera effects, rarity is very subjective. The scene changes linearly, so no frame is actually rarer than any other.

These pieces obviously make a pretty good phone wallpaper, so I included two additional images in each NFT (main piece on the lock screen and these on the home).

The Design

For this commission, the Unbounded Earth team reached out to me with the idea of creating an animated token. We ultimately went with a gyroscope design, a play on their name.

This design naturally broke the coins faces into 4 separate sections. We took advantage of this by incorporating creative and useful elements into the design, notably the two Policy IDs, one used to verify the projects metaverse assets, and the other to authenticate the coin itself.

Commemorative Cards

The 35 commemorative cards were given to close friends and supporters who I showed the collection to before its release. Each has the persons name on it and is numbered. 

"Into This World"

This collection is the first in my [2140] series following R.O.D.R.160. 

The series is broken up into framed sets within chapters (this one is Chapter 1, Framed Set 1 — Ch1FS1). Each piece in the collection is a still-image frame, and combined they create the full animation. 

To me, this collection is a flag in the sand. [2140] is one of my long term goals as a creator.
